Director of People and Culture

As a key member of the Senior Executive team, you will provide strategic HR leadership to deliver ECU's People and Culture Plan. You will lead a team of up to 50 professionals across key areas such as Business Partnering, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, People Operations, Work, Health, Safety & Wellbeing, and Culture & Inclusion.
You will be responsible for providing expert leadership on compliance, governance, and industrial matters, particularly around wage Awards, safety regulations, and workplace legislation, ensuring the university adheres to best practices. This includes collaborating with the Senior Executive to develop strategies to meet workforce needs and enhance ECU's organisational culture, ensuring a positive and safe environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Strategic HR Leadership: Supporting ECU's long-term vision and strategic objectives.
- Oversee Compliance: Ensuring adherence to awards, safety, and workplace legislation, and leading the university's approach to industrial relations, including enterprise bargaining.
- Cultural Transformation: Driving cultural transformation through best practice HR initiatives, fostering a diverse, inclusive, and safe workplace.
- Team Management: Managing and leading a high-performing HR team, ensuring the effective delivery of people-related services across the university.
- Strategic Alignment: Collaborating with the Senior Executive team to align HR strategies with ECU's strategic goals.
You are an innovative and experienced HR leader with a track record of success within a large, complex organisation. Experience in tertiary education is highly desirable, but we welcome candidates from diverse sectors who bring relevant skills and a strong leadership background.
You will have demonstrated success in leading major strategic change programs, empowering teams, and building strong relationships across an organisation. Your ability to influence and lead within a complex environment will be critical to ensuring ECU continues to thrive.

The estimated salary for this role is AU$140,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
