As a key member of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) team, the Manager - Western Australia Future System Planning and Forecasting will play a critical role in shaping the future of Western Australia's energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of AEMO's annual flagship long-term planning publications, providing strategic insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business, industry, and government stakeholders to identify emerging system security and reliability issues and opportunities, and develop technical content to communicate these findings.
  • Provide expert advice on modelling capability uplift and engage with proponents of future projects in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) to ensure long-term requirements are satisfied in light of rapid energy transition.

Requirements

  • Significant industry experience undertaking complex quantitative analysis and a strong understanding of the energy sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and managing a diverse, geographically dispersed team within a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Understanding of the political, legal, and regulatory framework in which the energy industry operates.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and provide strategic guidance to stakeholders.
