About the Role

The City of Palmerston is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Operations Team Leader to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in the coordination of civil infrastructure and building maintenance and operations, tender and contract management, project and budget management, and program development and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of professionals in the coordination of civil infrastructure and building maintenance and operations
  • Manage tenders and contracts to ensure delivery of projects on time and within budget
  • Develop and implement project and budget management plans to ensure successful project delivery
  • Develop and implement programs to improve customer satisfaction and experience
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff on the Community Plan, helping staff make connections between their roles, customer experiences and the Palmerston community
  • Foster collaborative relationships while promoting an effective customer-centric focus and behaviours

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or significant relevant work experience in civil and/or building facility maintenance
  • Ability to lead, supervise and develop a team
  • High level demonstrated experience in contractor management and contract administration
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, with the ability to efficiently analyse data and undertake research to make decisions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in interpretation and application of Australian Standards and guidelines relating to civil works.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise with a wide cross section of people and stakeholders and maintain professional working relationships.
  • Formal qualifications in work site traffic management (desirable) and ability to obtain a White Card.
  • Experience in the function of local government and its governance requirements (desirable).
