About the Role

Ampersand International is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate to join our team in the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS) and agencies in the portfolio where DCITHS provides shared corporate services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Accounting and Reporting: Prepare interim and year-end financial statements and associated returns to NSW Treasury in accordance with applicable statutory and reporting requirements.
  • Audit and Compliance: Provide accurate and timely response to audit queries or data requests, and input to responses arising from Management Letters.
  • Accounting Functions and Projects: Implement and undertake accounting functions and projects as required to support organisational activities and requirements.
  • Financial Systems and Processes: Identify opportunities to improve and implement measures to strengthen financial systems, processes, and frameworks to enhance compliance and reporting.
  • Finance Procedures and Controls: Contribute to the continuous development and management of finance procedures, processes, and controls for the achievement of reliable accounting, reporting and provision of financial information.
Requirements
  • Finance Expertise: Advance understanding of finance processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation, financial reporting, and auditing.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Highly experienced in preparing financial statements, as well as up-to-date knowledge and understanding of accounting standards and public sector accounting practices and requirements.
  • Accounting Software: Experience in accounting and related software systems (SAP, Oracle or similar).
  • Analytical and Conceptual Skills: Strong analytical and conceptual skills, including policy review, research of accounting standards, legislative interpretation and assessment and strategic planning skills.
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in accountancy, commerce, finance, or relevant discipline, or demonstrated equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Professional Certifications: CA or CPA qualified.
