About the Role

Ventia is seeking a skilled Planning Consultant to join our team and work closely with our Telecommunications wireless contract.

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Belmont, working Monday to Friday with occasional requirements to travel to various sites to conduct scoping of works with the SAED team.

The Planning Consultant will be responsible for delivering all town planning functions associated with telecommunications facilities, managing all town planning, regulatory, heritage, native land title, and environment matters relating to the proposed installation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct planning reviews to identify issues affecting site selection, feasibility, acquisition, and scheduling
  • Review regulatory compliance requirements to secure site acquisition approvals on time
  • Manage all town planning and regulatory requirements relating to the proposed installation or upgrade to the client deployment processes and those in Industry Code C564:2018
  • Manage sites from selection to securing town planning approvals, including preparing and lodging all required documentation with authorities
  • Assess regulatory compliance requirements, determine necessary consultations, and establish the appropriate planning instruments and timing for the site
  • Prepare development applications, manage community and stakeholder engagement, negotiate statutory approvals with Councils, update the RFNSA, and attend Council meetings
  • Assist with preparation and attendance of community meetings
  • Support the wider SAED team as the subject matter expert in all matters relating to planning

About You

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Town Planning or related subject
  • Relevant experience in environmental planning within a mobile telecoms carrier or SAED service provider
  • Solid grasp of state planning and environmental laws and the Telecommunications Act 1997 for mobile infrastructure deployment
  • Excellent communications skills and high attention to detail
  • Highly proficient in the usage of Microsoft Office suite
  • The successful candidate must have the right to work in Australia and hold a valid Australian Driver's license
