Medical Receptionist Job Description

The ideal candidate will be an experienced medical administrative professional working in a paediatric reception role. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and responding to phone calls in a courteous and professional manner
  • Managing patient appointments, including cancellations and ensuring GP referrals are up to date
  • Organising recalls as per clinicians' instructions
  • Booking and coordinating staff and/or doctors' meetings
  • Maintaining high-quality record keeping and filing systems
  • Ensuring confidentiality of medical records and patient information
  • Attending to electronic, written, and verbal tasks from clinicians
  • Faxing, scanning, and filing documents
  • Typing phone dictation and preparing letters and documents
  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Handling cash and other payments

Requirements:

  • Experience in a medical reception role
  • Current Working with Children/Blue Card
  • Basic Life Support training (within the past three years)
  • Work rights in Australia or eligibility for such
