About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll drive technical excellence and lead engineering teams in a dynamic environment. You'll leverage your expertise in full-stack technologies and matrix structures to guide projects, ensure best practices, and align with strategic goals.

You'll make impactful decisions, embrace agile methodologies, and mentor teams with clarity and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical direction to engineering teams and stakeholders, ensuring successful technology implementation across Agile Tribes and Squads.
  2. Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making, shaping the future of the consumer technology stack.
  3. Oversee engineering governance, conducting solution/code reviews to maintain best practices.
  4. Build strong relationships with squad members, cross-domain peers, and external vendors/third parties, driving collaboration across various Optus Technology stacks.
  5. Lead complex projects, engaging in the full software development lifecycle from analysis and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
  6. Partner with security teams on risk assessments and vulnerability testing.
  7. Ensure technical solutions adhere to company, regulatory, and security policies and guidelines.
  8. Assist in selecting tools and technologies, evaluating and creating proof-of-concept models for new technologies and alternative approaches.

Requirements:

  • Experience in web application and/or full-stack development.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and architecting web applications, microservices, and infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills, conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Successful track record of end-to-end project delivery, demonstrating hands-on and practical experience in development, solution design, and architecture within the digital domain.
  • Knowledge of IT risk assessment principles and risk management practices, coupled with an awareness of information security and data privacy standards.
  • Experience in automation and building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, including alerting and monitoring tools.
  • Strong analytical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and critical analysis abilities.
  • Knowledge of Spring Framework.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure or other cloud platforms (such as Azure or GCP), along with proficiency in Docker and Kotlin.
