Job Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Marine Ranger to join our team in Broome. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in the management of the Mayala Marine Park.

About The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for participating as an alternate member of the Mayala Joint Management Body and liaising with Traditional Owner partners to facilitate cultural and operational management strategies. They will also assist in the management of the Mayala Marine Park within the Buccaneer Archipelago in the West Kimberley district in joint management with the Traditional Owners.

You will carry out programmed operational activities and field logistics for lands, waters, wildlife, cultural and natural resources under our control in the district. This will include conducting marine park patrols to raise public awareness of marine park values, regulations, compliance, management intervention, research and monitoring as directed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate as an alternate member of the Mayala Joint Management Body and collaborate with Traditional Owner partners to develop effective management strategies.
  • Contribute to the management of the Mayala Marine Park by working closely with Traditional Owners to implement joint management initiatives.
  • Carry out field operations and manage resources including lands, waters, wildlife and cultural assets under our jurisdiction.
  • Undertake marine park patrols to promote public understanding of marine park values and regulations.
Requirements:
  • A current Working with Children Check.
  • A current National Police Check (not older than 6 months).
  • A current Western Australian Class C drivers licence.
