Clinical Nurse Educator

Clinical nurse educators play a pivotal role in the professional development of nursing staff. Their primary responsibility is to provide expert clinical training and education to less experienced colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides high-quality clinical training at a ward/unit level
  • Develops and delivers in-service educational programs tailored to specific needs
  • Evaluates and demonstrates clinical procedures, ensuring adherence to best practices
  • Fosters a supportive preceptor/mentor role for less experienced staff members

To be successful in this role, candidates should have current registration with relevant health authorities as a Registered Nurse. They should also possess relevant post-registration clinical or education qualifications, and/or current certification as a Workplace Trainer and Assessor.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the relevant clinical/specialty field, demonstrating a deep understanding of competency requirements for staff to deliver quality patient care.

They will also have demonstrated experience as a preceptor/mentor/coach, utilizing contemporary education and teaching methods to cultivate a culture of learning among staff.

This Clinical Nurse Educator will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating education and learning activities that cater to individual learning needs, incorporating adult learning principles and best practice models.

Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and advanced computer skills are essential for this role.
