About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Lawyer to join our Health team at HWL Ebsworth. As a Senior Lawyer, you will play a key role in providing legal advice to some of Australia's leading medical defence insurers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Management: End-to-end management of claims and investigations, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Legal Advice: Provision of written advice to insurers and insured clients, including high quantum civil litigation, coronial inquests, AHPRA investigations, and patient complaints.
  • Representation: Appearance at mediations, witness interviews, inquests, and disciplinary hearings, representing clients with confidence and expertise.
  • Business Development: Direct marketing and engagement of new clients, expanding our client base and driving business growth.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of post-admission experience in medical indemnity, health, aged care, and/or personal injury law for defendants.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to engage with insurers, corporate counsel, health entities, individual practitioners, and management of health clinics.
  • Passion for medico-legal issues and claims management.
  • Strong leadership skills to assist in developing our junior cohort.
