The Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Unit
The Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine unit provides anaesthetic services to over 26,000 patients undergoing surgery and other procedures each year. We deliver anaesthesia services in various settings, including operating theatres, emergency departments, intensive care units, and procedure areas. Our integrated Acute Pain Service ensures comprehensive care for patients.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Operations to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine and be responsible for:
- Workforce planning and management
- Equipment management and maintenance
- Budgeting and financial management within the department
Key Responsibilities
The Deputy Director will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness
- Leading and managing a team of anaesthesiologists and perioperative medicine specialists
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless patient care
- Providing clinical leadership and expertise in anaesthesiology and perioperative medicine
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess:
- Legally qualified medical practitioner registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Fellowship of the ANZCA
- Proven leadership experience in clinical services and/or health service management
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships
- Relevant knowledge and experience in anaesthesiology and perioperative medicine
- Meet Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice
- Experience in teaching and research
