Blue Origin is a pioneer in space exploration and development, and we're seeking a highly skilled Principal Ground Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge ground systems that enable our mission to make humanity a multi-planetary species.



Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the development of ground-based operations systems for Blue Ring's space data networking capability
  • Collaborate with the space segment team to define and implement ground segment tools for managing multiple communication payloads hosted on deployed Blue Ring spacecraft
  • Develop processes and procedures to validate the integrity and functionality of end-to-end data flows and communication interfaces
  • Support the operations team in creating related operations products, including tools, procedures, documentation, and training materials
  • Participate in operations for the Blue Ring missions

Requirements


  • B.S. in aerospace engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Minimum 10+ years of industry-related experience
  • Expertise in defining, developing, and fielding production software
  • Experience in RF or optical communication protocols for both space-to-ground and space-to-space data links
  • Knowledgeable in terrestrial network communication protocols and their application
  • Experience in spacecraft or payload operations
  • Strong understanding of complex systems engineering principles and methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion


We offer a competitive salary range of $188,427-$263,797, depending on location, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program. Benefits may vary by role type.
