About Our Opportunity

As an APS3 Section 26 Register employee, you will be responsible for working on various tasks related to visa and citizenship applications. Your role will involve reviewing supporting documents, providing responses to clients, and making lawful decisions based on established policies and procedures.

About Our Team

The Immigration Group is responsible for administering Australia's Permanent and Temporary Migration Programs. We lead on implementing Government's proposed policy shifts needed to reform the migration system. Our team works closely with various sections to provide policy advice on national impacts of migration, citizenship, people mobility, and delivers citizenship, social cohesion and multicultural programs.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who possess strong written and verbal communication skills, can work under pressure, and remain calm in stressful situations. You must be able to positively contribute in a team environment, displaying integrity and high ethical standards. You should also be competent with Microsoft Office Suite and able to quickly learn departmental IT systems, legislation, and policy.

Your ability to work collaboratively with others and make informed decisions will be essential to your success in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Visa and Citizenship Decision Makers will undertake a range of tasks to assist with processing visa and citizenship applications, including record keeping, managing mailboxes, and providing responses to clients while working under general supervision.
  • Administrative Support Officers may perform administrative tasks such as data entry, responding to enquiries by phone or email, drafting correspondence using templates, managing email mailboxes, supporting day-to-day operations, and other general administrative duties.
  • Program Advice and Support Officers contribute to service delivery of a program, assisting with reporting and communications activities, developing and maintaining productive working relationships, and providing routine advice to clients and stakeholders.
  • Customer Support Officers, Call Centre Officers, and Client Liaison Officers provide timely and accurate advice and answers to stakeholders in response to enquiries and requests in support of Departmental programs.
Eligibility

To be eligible for the position, you must be an Australian Citizen and already be an APS3 in the Australian Public Service employed in an ongoing role.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $64,392.00 and $73,981.00, plus superannuation benefits and flexible working conditions appropriate to the level of the position.

The Department of Home Affairs offers relocation assistance to eligible APS employees required to relocate. The level of assistance will vary depending on the reason for relocating and your personal circumstances.
