Special Education Support Coordinator

We are seeking a part-time Special Education Support Coordinator to oversee the organisation, coordination, and management of programs for students with significant social and academic challenges.

The ideal candidate will embody compassion, patience, and creativity, being organised and flexible in their approach. They will advocate for students requiring additional support, facilitate their active participation in school, collaborate with teachers and Learning Support staff, and provide emotional support to families. The successful applicant will make a lasting impact on the lives of our students and their families.

About the Role
  • This role may suit a qualified teacher or someone with an alternatively suitable background with significant experience in disability, schools with strong coordination capability.
  • The successful applicant will be responsible for implementing strategies and supports to help students succeed and feel included.
  • They will collaborate with teachers, students, external providers, and other learning support staff to ensure every student can access and participate in education alongside their peers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Organise, coordinate, and manage programs for students with significant social and academic challenges.
  • Advocate for students requiring additional support.
  • Facilitate active participation in school.
  • Collaborate with teachers and Learning Support staff.
  • Provide emotional support to families.
Requirements
  • A qualified teacher and hold a current registration with the relevant teaching body or
  • Someone with an alternatively suitable background with significant experience in disability, schools with strong coordination capability.
  • Current First Aid qualifications and Anaphylaxis Certificate or be willing to obtain these prior to commencement.
  • Passion for supporting students with disabilities.
  • Ability to implement strategies and supports to help students succeed and feel included.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
