About the RoleThe Senior Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead will be responsible for assessing and diagnosing psychological disorders and providing evidence-based psychological therapies to adults, adolescents, and children referred by healthcare professionals. This will involve working with clients under various funding arrangements, including the Better Access to Mental Health Care, Chronic Disease Management, and Helping Children with Autism initiatives.
The successful candidate will also provide clinical leadership and support to the therapy team, contributing to the development of clinical practices, procedures, and protocols within the work area. They will participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually enhance client care and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced evidence-based psychological therapies to adolescents and children referred under a GP Mental Health Care Plan or other funding arrangements.
- Develop, facilitate, and evaluate group treatment programs as needed.
- Maintain accurate client records using an electronic clinical record system.
- Participate in case review meetings, contribute to care plans, and participate in planned case conferences with healthcare professionals as required.
- Provide written reports to referring healthcare professionals with information regarding assessments, treatment provided, and recommendations for future management.
- Contribute to service planning, policy, and procedure development, and other administrative functions relevant to service provision.
- Provide clinical leadership and support to the therapy team, including supervision and guidance.
- Coordinate the Mental Health Peer Supervision group for psychologists and other mental health clinicians.
- Provide supervision to junior and early career psychologists in the team.
- Minimum 8 years of experience working with children and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to use high-level evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as CBT, motivational interviewing, ACT, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and others.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and supervision to staff and students.
- Demonstrated experience in working with clients to conduct clinical assessments, develop collaborative care plans, and formulate treatment plans within a strengths-based and recovery framework.
- Experience in conducting clinical risk assessments and implementing risk management plans with clients, including those assessed as mild-moderate risk of suicide.
- Ability to use a desktop computer and familiarize oneself with MS Office applications and a new clinical software package for keeping electronic client records.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to ensure that information is passed on to others who should be kept informed and to express oneself clearly and appropriately in verbal and written interactions.
- Valid working with children check and National Police Check.
