Dispatch Officer Job Description

This position involves dispatching personnel to calls and distributing information while ensuring efficient response to emergency situations. As a Dispatch Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating with other teams to facilitate the flow of information and providing accurate data entry into computer-aided dispatching systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate communication equipment and surveillance tools to optimize emergency response times.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless information exchange and maintain accurate records.
  • Develop reports from different reporting systems and conduct video reviews to investigate incidents.
  • Stay up-to-date on departmental policies and procedures to guarantee compliance.
  • Assist Public Safety Officers as directed and perform other duties as assigned.
Mandatory Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to type 30 words per minute.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and navigate electronic display panels on devices such as radios, cellular telephones, alarm systems, public address systems, etc.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, rules, and regulations governing the industry.
  • Knowledgeable of Public Safety Department Policies and Procedures and able to pass the training program within the introductory period.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively using fixed or portable two-way radios, landline, or cellular telephone.
  • Able to lift and push/pull at least 50 pounds and occasionally more with assistance.
  • Able to work in a non-smoke-free environment, noisy environment, and outside in all weather conditions.
