About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Audit Manager to join our Models, AI, and Data team at Commonwealth Bank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing objective assurance on the risks and controls associated with our internal, external, and regulatory obligations for models, data, and AI.

Key Responsibilities
  • Active management of reviews assessing Artificial Intelligence models and traditional models for accuracy, performance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with bank policies and risk appetite.
  • Identify and evaluate model risks related to data, robustness, biases; ensure compliance.
  • Design and execute validation testing to challenge model assumptions and outcomes.
  • Ensure audit activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with model developers and business teams to build a risk-aware culture and provide guidance.
  • Deliver pragmatic insights, findings, and improvement recommendations to stakeholders and governance committees.
  • Maintain relationships with leadership and regulators to progress strategic model governance.
  • Advise senior leadership on emerging AI risks and how to manage them.
Requirements
  • Hands-on experience in developing, validating, and reviewing models.
  • Academic background in quantitative fields like engineering, mathematics, quantitative finance.
  • Strong understanding of the landscape of Artificial Intelligence and model risk management including local and international regulations.
  • Proven leadership managing audit teams and projects with a model governance focus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess model risks.
  • Ability to simplify complex model concepts and effectively communicate insights.
  • Strong project execution skills to deliver across competing priorities.
  • Relationship management skills to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Tertiary Qualifications – hold a tertiary qualification in engineering, finance, or an equivalent business-related discipline.
