Grampians Health offers a dynamic and supportive environment for graduate nurses to launch their careers. Our Graduate Nurse program is designed to provide comprehensive training and development opportunities, enabling you to consolidate your nursing skills and knowledge.
Program Overview- The Graduate Nurse program consists of three intakes per year, with 25-29 graduates employed on a permanent contract.
- During the first 54 weeks, graduate nurses participate in the Graduate Nurse program, working 0.8 EFT to 1.0 EFT.
We foster reflective practice and develop clinical judgement skills through our structured learning program.
Clinical RotationsRotations are three or six months long, allowing graduates to have three or four rotations throughout the year.
- Oxley: Medical/Surgical, Oncology, Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry.
- Wyuna: Rehabilitation, GEM, TCP patients.
- Yandilla: Medical/surgical, adults and paediatrics, obstetrics, midwifery, and gynaecology.
- Theatre: Operating suite, day procedure unit, and recovery.
- Emergency Department: Acute assessment and clinical management skills.
- District Nursing: Wound management, continence assessment, and hospice nursing.
Preferences and requests are considered when planning rotations.
Support and DevelopmentOur Program Educators, Preceptors, Unit Managers, Clinical Support Nurses, and Clinical Teachers provide support throughout the program.
We encourage personal and professional development plans to ensure clinical growth.
Eligibility CriteriaRegistered nurses and dual-degree (Midwifery) nurses who have completed a Bachelor of Nursing or Applied Science (Nursing) and are registered with AHPRA as a Registered General Nurse or Midwife are eligible to apply.
Application ProcessGrampians Health participates in the PMCV Allocation and Placement Service process. Applicants should list Grampians Health Horsham campus as one of their preferences on PMCV applications.
An information afternoon provides an opportunity to tour the hospital and meet preceptors.
