We're seeking a skilled Research Analyst to join our Metals & Mining team in Australia. As a key member of our team, you'll develop valuable insights and investment ideas for our clients.

Your Impact

Our team is responsible for generating investment ideas and tools to help shape investment strategies for clients and the firm. You'll work on client-focused research in the equity, fixed-income, currency, and commodities markets, analyzing big data to identify game-changing insights.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong industry knowledge across Metals & Mining companies
  • Build, maintain, and update company and industry models
  • Analyze market share, macro trends, and cross-company and sub-sector data
  • Interpret data and perform analysis on market, economic, and technology trends
  • Assist in compiling and writing thematic sector and company research reports and investment recommendations
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from clients, sales, and traders
  • Develop relationships with internal and external clients, including company Investor Relations departments

Basic Qualifications

  • University degree in finance or accounting
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance, or research
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, organizational, and creative skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong numerical skills with ability to perform financial statement, business, and valuation analysis
  • Accounting/financial experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to think laterally and exercise good judgment
  • Self-starter attitude with high level of enthusiasm for equity research
  • Natural curiosity, critical thinking, and logical thinking
  • Strong communication skills in writing and verbally
