Mathematical Research Opportunity

The School of Mathematics at Monash University has an exciting opportunity for a researcher to join the team and work on a cutting-edge project focused on developing and analyzing novel nonlinear, multiphysics, and multiscale PDE systems modeling the electromechanics of heart and torso.

This research project is supported by the Australian Research Council and aims to create predictive tools for patient-specific simulations of cardiac function. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for:

  1. Developing advanced numerical discretisations for multiphysics PDEs with emphasis on mathematical and computational aspects of problems with dynamic interfaces;
  2. Working closely under the guidance of senior researchers to achieve project objectives;
  3. Disseminating results through research articles and technical presentations.

Prior experience in the analysis and implementation of finite elements and similar methods is highly desirable, but not required. The ideal candidate should have a strong educational background or substantial relevant skills and work experience. A PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field is essential.
