
Senior AI Developer

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development of high-quality, AI-enabled software.
You will blend strong backend engineering skills with practical AI/LLM expertise to design and deliver robust distributed systems that incorporate modern AI capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have experience consuming LLM APIs, orchestrating prompts or agentic workflows, and leveraging retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) frameworks.
The role involves technical leadership, API security, and architecture decisions on API security, scalability, reliability, and how to incorporate LLMs into our platform.
Responsibilities include architecting and implementing high-throughput APIs, making key architectural decisions, leading integration solutions, and mentoring other developers.
Collaboration with AI and platform engineers is also required to design APIs for model inferencing, hosting endpoints for LLM queries, vector search, or other AI-driven tasks.
- Technical Leadership & Architecture:
- Architect and implement high-throughput APIs that integrate with and leverage AI services
- Make key architectural decisions on API security, scalability, reliability, and how to incorporate LLMs into our platform
- Lead integration solutions using Spring Boot 3.x, reactive patterns, and API gateways while mentoring other developers
- Champion improvements in integration best practices with a focus on enabling AI-driven applications
- Collaborate with AI and platform engineers to design APIs for model inferencing
- Implement secure API patterns to protect sensitive data when fine-tuning or retrieving embeddings for AI models
- Leverage Spring Boot 3.x, Spring Security, Spring WebFlux to build production-grade solutions that can scale with AI usage
- Cross-functional Leadership:
- Partner with Product Owners to shape technical requirements and best approaches for AI-enabled product features
- Lead API design reviews and architecture discussions focusing on AI integration and alignment with our broader microservices ecosystem
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing around LLM usage, integration patterns, and AI code assistants
- Drive alignment with Platform Engineering and MLOps practices ensuring automated deployment of AI-enabled services
Decision Making Scope:
- Architectural direction for integration patterns that incorporate AI components
- Technology choices for new solutions around Gen AI usage, vector databases, and AI frameworks
- API standards and security patterns
- SLA and performance requirements
Technical Requirements:
- 8+ years of commercial software development, focusing on integration/APIs
- Expert knowledge of Spring Framework ecosystem
- Mastery of API security, including OAuth2, JWT, and API key management
- Track record of delivering high-performance, secure system designs
- Strong command of cloud services
- Experience consuming LLM APIs, orchestrating prompts or agentic workflows
- Familiarity with RAG frameworks
Nice to Have:
- Real-time data processing and streaming architecture experience
- Hosting model endpoints using bedrock or similar
- Experience with message brokers
