About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Governance and Policy Officer to join our team at BespokeHR. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective governance, compliance, and policy management for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain governance frameworks in line with legal and government standards.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies, reporting any changes to the Board, CEO, and Directors.
  • Oversee the risk register and support risk management strategies.
  • Manage the CITB's Information / Records Management bound by the State Records Act which must comply.
  • Organise and facilitate board meetings, ensuring agendas, materials, and records are managed efficiently.
  • Ensure timely board reporting.
  • Coordinate board induction, training, and maintain the conflict-of-interest register.
  • Support the CEO in executing board actions and managing board events.
  • Develop and implement policies aligned with strategic goals and government priorities.
  • Engage with stakeholders in policy making, monitor policy effectiveness, and ensure updates are communicated effectively.
  • Maintain policy and WHS&HR registers, ensuring timely reviews and updates.
  • Collect and report data for internal and external stakeholders, including the Annual Report.
  • Handle public complaints, ministerial inquiries, and whistle blower concerns on behalf of the CEO and Board.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in governance, ideally in government, public sector, or education.
  • Proven ability to support boards, manage meetings, and offer strategic advice.
  • Strong background in policy development, implementation, and compliance.
  • Experience in risk management and aligning policies with strategic goals.
  • Knowledge of governance principles and the ability to manage related risks.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a high-performing vibrant team.
  • Ability to critically analyse policy issues, assess impacts, and recommend improvements.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to influence governance initiatives and foster a culture of good governance and ethical behaviour.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and proficiency in MS Word and governance software.
