About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Wildlife Conservation Officer. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in protecting and conserving Queensland's native flora and fauna.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the regulatory compliance activities of Southern Wildlife Operations under the Nature Conservation Act 1992, including assisting in responding to complaints from the public, conducting audits of permit holders, and actively investigating reports of the illegal take of native flora and fauna.
  • Promote awareness, appreciation, and understanding of conservation values of native flora and fauna to the public, while enhancing their understanding of compliance obligations of the Nature Conservation Act 1992.
Requirements
  • Great people skills and an ability to manage yourself in critical situations, with a focus on providing excellent customer service and communication.
  • An ability to work with and handle native animals, including reptiles, with a focus on animal welfare and safety.
  • An appetite for and ability to solve complex problems using initiative, collaboration, tenacity, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • An ability to be a productive, supportive, and reliable team member who can apply critical thinking skills to wildlife management and educational programs.
