Indigenous Employment Opportunities

We are committed to driving positive social change and advancing Indigenous inclusion within our campus community. Our commitment to overcoming Indigenous disadvantage is reflected in a diverse set of social justice initiatives.

To demonstrate this commitment, we have implemented an affirmative action employment strategy called the Wingara Indigenous Employment Strategy since 1993.

The purpose of the Wingara Indigenous Employment Strategy 2019–2023 is to ensure that we have the Indigenous capability to achieve our high-level strategic objective to position ourselves as a world-leading university in Indigenous education and research by 2023.

We aim to grow and develop our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce. Our target is three percent of our workforce to be achieved by 2023.

We have created an Expression of Interest (EOI) program to complement our existing employment and career development programs and pathways.

Individuals joining the program will have their expression of interest actively matched against any suitable positions that may arise.

We recruit for academic (teaching, research) and non-academic positions (e.g., IT, Finance, Marketing). Roles include casual, fixed-term and continuing opportunities, both part-time and full-time, with flexible working arrangements available.

About you:

  • You must be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • You must identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • You must be accepted as such by the community in which you live and/or have lived.
