Job Title: Deck Hand/Fishing Hand

Salary: Comprehensive salary package from $65,835 PA (plus superannuation)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Deck/Fishing Hand to join our team. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be self-motivated, and able to work effectively with a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and lookout tasks aboard a ship or catches fish, crustacean, and molluscs using nets, lines, and traps in ocean and inland waters.
• Handle ropes and wires, and operate mooring equipment when berthing and unberthing.
• Stand lookout watches at sea and adjust the ship's course as directed.
• Assist with cargo operations using on-board equipment and stow and secure cargo.
• Patrol ships to ensure safety of the vessel, cargo, and passengers.
• Perform routine maintenance and checks on deck equipment, cargo gear, rigging, and lifesaving and fire-fighting appliances.
• Attach gear and fasten towing cables to nets.
• Cast and lower nets, pots, lines, and traps into water.
• Haul in fishing gear and remove fish and other marine life.

Requirements:

• Two (2) years recent relevant overseas experience.
• Holds safety and rescue certificates compliant with the International Convention on Standards, Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978 (as amended).
• Holds a first aid certificate (valid within 12 months).
