Green Thumb Trainee

Maxima, in partnership with the Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club, are seeking a green thumb to undertake a full-time traineeship in horticulture, specialising in sports turf.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills and knowledge in turf management, while gaining hands-on experience working on two main grass tracks.

As a trainee, you will be responsible for maintaining these areas to a high standard, ensuring all gardens are lush and picturesque. You will also work closely with the racing club to ensure the grounds are well-maintained throughout the year.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have strong communication skills, be reliable and punctual, and be able to work effectively within a team and unsupervised.

Additionally, you should enjoy working outdoors and with garden tools, and have a strong work ethic. It is also desirable to hold a provisional or full driver's licence and own vehicle, as well as be physically fit and healthy due to undertaking manual labour work.

The successful candidate will undergo paid study time towards achieving a nationally recognised Certificate III in Horticulture, with a focus on turf management.
