Role Summary
The Classroom Teacher - STEM Special Education will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students with intellectual disabilities and/or challenging behaviors in a STEM-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and experience in teaching STEM subjects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with intellectual disabilities and/or challenging behaviors.
- Teach STEM subjects, including science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, in a way that is engaging and accessible to students with diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with other teachers, specialists, and support staff to provide a comprehensive and inclusive education for all students.
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of students with varying learning styles and abilities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education and STEM teaching.
Requirements
- Provisional or full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
- Qualifications and experience in special education and/or STEM teaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational environment.
