Irrigation Technician

Join the City of Mandurah's team of professionals in the Built and Natural Environment department as an Irrigation Technician. This is a temporary full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to work on exciting projects and develop your skills in irrigation installation, maintenance, and repair.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake maintenance of the City's Parks, Gardens, and Ovals irrigation systems in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Supervise minor irrigation works projects, including the work of others.
  • Participate in the overall development and improvement of activities within the Section.
  • Support the City's water conservation objectives.
  • Ensure Occupational Safety and Health requirements are observed and adhered to.
  • Provide high-level customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure corporate responsibilities are observed and adhered to.
Requirements:
  • A Certificate III in Irrigation.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in irrigation installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial and domestic reticulation systems.
  • Current unrestricted 'MR' (Medium Rigid) class national driver's license.
  • Knowledge of centralised computer irrigation systems.
  • Previous experience in a parks and gardens environment.
  • Practical experience with hand and precision tools and minor plant.
  • Sound calculation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, plans, and diagrams.
  • Knowledge of artesian bores and the operation of pumps and relative equipment.
  • Basic design knowledge and quantity estimating.
  • Work limited supervision.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
