About the Role

Our Chaplains work as integral members of the interdisciplinary care team, contributing to the holistic care model at leadership level. As an Interim Chaplain, you will spend your week at one or two homes without a current chaplain or where the chaplain is on leave.

You will be able to travel across Victoria and occasionally into Bendigo, Geelong, and Mornington. You must have a strong understanding of contemporary professional spiritual care and be capable of working autonomously and in teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Individual spiritual and emotional care for residents and their families
  • Spiritual care assessments/reviews and electronic documentation
  • Leading worship as required
  • Connecting with spiritual leaders from various faith backgrounds
  • Small group work
  • Guidance and education for staff on spiritual care
  • Participation in key meetings: Welcoming, Quality, Palliative, and Comfort Care
  • Active participation in the Chaplaincy Network

About You

  • Compassion, initiative, and genuine interest in enhancing the lives and wellbeing of older people
  • An ability to identify, assess, and provide for emotional, spiritual, and religious needs of residents
  • CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) – minimum 1 unit or equivalent training and experience in pastoral care
  • Formal theological qualifications preferred
  • A commitment to working within and promoting the ethos and values of the Uniting Church
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to work respectfully and constructively in teams
  • Good computer skills and competency in documentation and reporting requirements
  • A commitment to our BEST way of life (Believe, Excel, Support, and Trust)
