Autonomous Field Validation Engineer

We are seeking an Autonomous Field Validation Engineer to contribute to our innovative projects. The role involves a diverse range of responsibilities including the integration and commissioning of autonomy hardware, deploying, testing, and fine-tuning autonomous vehicle software and dynamic control systems. You will coordinate tests with asset managers, conduct on-vehicle testing and validation, and compile test results for controls engineers, autonomy engineers, and management.

Key Responsibilities

As an Autonomous Field Validation Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Integrating, troubleshooting, and commissioning drive-by-wire and autonomy hardware systems.
  • Managing in-production facilities and field operations, deploying and testing autonomous vehicle software and dynamic controls.
  • Executing tests for new firmware, software, or hardware components.
  • Deploying software on embedded Linux controllers.
  • Creating test plans and schedules to ensure thorough evaluation.
  • Developing detailed test instructions for vehicle operators.
  • Regularly reporting and collaborating with NPI development teams to resolve issues and suggest product enhancements.
  • Conducting failure analysis to determine root causes of customer-reported issues.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision to collect data and complete necessary vehicle performance tests.
  • Contributing to customer documentation and training materials for various software applications.
  • Assisting customers with the configuration and ongoing usability of system hardware and software.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle electrical systems and hardware installation.
  • Willingness to travel to various operational sites as required.

  • Knowledge of CAN bus communication and diagnostics (J1939).
  • Experience in testing controls and actuators.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition equipment such as National Instruments tools.
