About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our team at Uniting. As a key member of our GL & Reporting team, you will be responsible for owning financial statements, year-end audit preparation and review, retirement village statements preparation and review, and complex provision calculations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the timely production of accurate financial information for analysis and business decisions.
  • Assist the Group Accounting Manager during the month-end close with a focus on financial statements and year-end audit preparation and/or review, lease maintenance, retirement village statements preparation and/or review, and complex provision calculations.
  • Strengthen stakeholder relationships within the Finance and Strategy and business, matching expectations with the GL Reporting team performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, governance, and efficiencies to allow the expansion of scope of services that can be performed centrally at higher service levels and lower cost.
  • Provide a collection of relevant data to assist with budgeting and forecasting, the operation of the team, and production of regular reports.
  • Conduct specialized studies as required, providing insights into the operation of the team and the organization.
Key Accountabilities
  • Deliver financial reports with high accuracy first time to management and business with minimal adjustments required.
  • Ensure there is a good rating on internal and external audits.
  • Create positive relationships and experiences for key stakeholders.
  • Prior understanding of financial transaction processing and reporting requirements in a large and complex organization and the ability to define and lead Service Delivery accountabilities, processes, and capabilities required to achieve strategic objectives within a Shared Services model.
  • Provide input into documentation of work processes in order to train and guide other team members.
  • Monitor adherence to corporate governance requirements and take corrective and preventative action to ensure requirements are met.
  • Ensure that stakeholders and other users of the GL Reporting information are informed on key financial information and use this information for key business decisions.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification to bachelor degree level in Finance/Accounting and professional qualification in CPA/CA.
  • Desirable - Additional post-graduate qualifications such as Information Systems, Business Administration, or Masters in Finance/Accounting.
Skills
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar Finance role leading teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of shared service functions, recharges, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Apps, analytical and report writing applications, and analytical tools.
  • Highly developed communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to investigate compliance matters, variances on the monthly P&L result, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of procedural documentation.
  • Strong understanding of recharging costs, accruals, and revenue recognition.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Desirable - Experience in financial modeling using Excel.
  • Desirable - Knowledge of Microsoft D365, PowerBI, and NomosOne.
Experience
  • Building new processes and managing transformation to a shared services transaction processing environment, knowledge of best practices and productivity-based approaches to general ledger processing and maintenance.
  • Team leadership and project ownership experience.
  • Prior experience in the preparation and review of audited and non-audited acquittals.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems as used in large-scale service environments.
  • Previous experience in systems automation and procedural documentation highly regarded.
  • Desirable - Industry knowledge of the aged care and family services sectors.
  • Desirable - Strong knowledge of corporate financial functions and property operations.
