The Assistant Accountant provides financial support to the VP of Finance by helping to prepare financial statements, accounts, and budgets, managing AR and AP, tracking on collection and processing invoices, and preparing GST returns.


", "Key Responsibilities": "
  • Maintain the integrity of the company's general ledgers and daily financial transactions.
  • Review financial documents such as bills, invoices, pay orders, payables, and receivables, and review all purchase orders. Assist with Fixed asset Registration.
  • Prepare and process month-end reporting up to the trial balance stage, including accruals, prepayments, and subsequent journals.
  • Review monthly financial statements, identify discrepancies in ledgers and accounts, track them to the source, and make corrections where appropriate.
  • Manage payroll activities and ensure all payroll processing is correct and compliant.
  • Process all Accounts Payable invoices in the ERP system and ensure reconciliation with Purchase Orders
  • Coordinate and manage payments and billing details/payment terms of external service providers, contractors, and vendors, being approved and processed for payment accurately and within expected periods.
  • Review of the Aging and tracking of collection of all Accounts receivable
  • Perform reconciliations of accounts on payments and deposits with the bank.
  • Ensure GST returns are prepared accurately and lodged with authorities by required deadlines for Australia.
  • Provide support to the Finance accounting manager with the Tax preparation as well as the preparation of budgeting and forecasting reports.
  • Responsible for reviewing the Vendor and Customer Creation and ensuring the accuracy of related Master Data in the ERP system
  • Collaborate with different department teams to work on various accounting projects.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and accounting duties to support the broader team.

  • A Degree in Accounting/Economics.
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing, FMCG industry.
  • ERP experience (SAP) is a must.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Being able to prioritize work within strict deadlines and reporting timetables.
  • Problem-solving, organized and Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Have a working knowledge of SAP Business One or a similar ERP system.
  • Intermediate computer software skills, including Excel and accounting packages.
