Empowering Seniors to Live with Dignity and Choice

We are seeking a compassionate and organised Lifestyle Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our residents by delivering engaging and meaningful lifestyle and leisure programs.

You will work closely with our experienced team to develop and run person-centred activities that encourage wellness, independence, and social connection. This may include planning and facilitating individual and group programs based on residents' interests and abilities, including for those living with dementia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Activity Planning and Coordination: Assist with planning and running group and individual lifestyle activities, ensuring they are engaging and inclusive for all residents.
  • Supporting Residents: Support residents during sessions, including those living with dementia, providing emotional support and encouragement as needed.
  • Social and Emotional Support: Provide 1:1 social and emotional support to residents, helping them maintain their dignity and independence.
  • Activity Setup and Tidying: Set up and tidy activity spaces and equipment, ensuring they are safe and accessible for all residents.
  • Resident Mobility and Personal Care: Help with resident mobility and personal care during activities, assisting with transfers and other needs as required.
  • Clerical Tasks: Complete basic clerical tasks and record-keeping, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of resident activities and progress.
Requirements:
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing): Hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or related qualification, demonstrating your expertise in caring for older adults.
  • Experience in Aged Care: Have previous experience working in aged care and memory support units with residents living with dementia, showcasing your ability to provide high-quality care in this setting.
  • Recreational Activity Planning: Be skilled in planning and facilitating recreational and leisure activities that enhance wellbeing, using your creativity to engage residents in enjoyable pursuits.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Possess strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, and team members.
  • Person-Centred Approach: Demonstrate a person-centred approach with a commitment to dignity, privacy, and respectful care, prioritising the needs and preferences of each resident.
  • Organisation and Reliability: Show organisation and reliability, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing competing priorities and deadlines effectively.
