Job Overview

This role is focused on delivering general labouring services across Flinders Shire to meet Council's operational and strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating plant and fleet as licensed, undertaking activities up to engaged level as per the Queensland Local Government Award. This includes hands-on labouring in water and sewerage, including infrastructure development, digging trenches, laying pipes, assisting with cleaning/clearing sewerage mains and house drains, pumping out septic tanks, and traffic control. Additionally, preparing work sites according to traffic and other management plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operational tasks such as site preparation, equipment operation, and materials handling
  • General labouring duties like excavation, concreting, and carpentry
  • Administrative tasks including documentation, reporting, and communication

The Water and Sewerage Labourer is expected to consistently complete allocated tasks to a high standard, promote organisational values, and actively participate in process improvements.

To succeed in this role, you'll need strong customer service skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with teams. You'll also require basic computer skills and proficiency in using software applications relevant to the position.
