Role Overview

We are in search of a Research Officer with a strong background in peptide chemistry to support our Platform Discovery team in advancing our therapeutic projects.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Strategically oversee both internal and external initiatives that foster innovative methods for RNA therapeutic delivery
  • Utilize and enhance PYC's established capabilities in peptides, peptide display technology, and ASO design to broaden the applicability of these platforms
  • Collaborate closely with the Vice President of Discovery to ensure the smooth transition of early-stage assets into development
  • Engage with PYC's CMC team to guarantee the successful advancement and application of novel delivery chemistries

This is a full-time position based in Perth, Western Australia.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate is driven by a desire to learn and innovate, unafraid to explore new ideas. They uphold high standards while remaining pragmatic in their approach to delivering results.

Key qualifications include:

  • PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field
  • A minimum of five years of experience leading a results-driven team in the domain of delivery peptides, oligonucleotides, or therapeutic intracellular delivery
  • A proven track record in designing and implementing impactful strategies for intracellular delivery
  • Expertise in LNP formulation and post-synthetic chemical modifications
  • Bachelor of Science (Honours) in a relevant discipline, such as chemistry or biochemistry
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to present complex data to diverse audiences
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within dynamic, cross-functional teams
  • A commitment to high-quality scientific practices through meticulous experimental planning, analysis, and presentation
  • Experience in bioinformatics, data analytics, or computational biochemistry
  • Familiarity with the considerations necessary for translating fundamental science into clinical applications, including ADME, PK, CMC, and patient-derived in vitro disease models
  • Experience with oligonucleotides or similar modalities for RNA expression modulation
  • A history of engagement with regulatory bodies such as FDA, TGA, or EMA
