Job Description:

Role Overview:

  • This is a 6-month contract role with possible extension, offering an attractive hourly pay rate of $75.65/hour + Super.
  • The successful candidate will work in a hybrid environment, balancing work-from-home and office hours in Sterling, ACT.
  • Immediate start is a must.

Purpose of the Role:

As a WHS and Wellbeing Policy Officer, you will collaborate with Subject Matter Expert (SME) teams to develop frameworks, policies, and procedures that support safety and wellbeing.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Review existing policies and procedures related to safety and wellbeing, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and working with SMEs to address any gaps.
  • Prepare briefs and reports as required, focusing on evidence-based policy development and implementation.
  • Liaise with staff at all levels, building proactive and cooperative relationships to drive project progress and policy implementation.
  • Contribute to the Project Management Office, working collaboratively as a team member and independently with limited supervision.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in developing and implementing WHS and Wellbeing policy or programs within the government context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting evidence-based policies and procedures, with a proven ability to interpret legislation and apply it in a policy context.
  • Developed project management skills, with a proven ability to prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated capability in ICT.
  • Strong understanding of complex WHS legislation and policy writing skills in the public sector, with experience in education and/or ACT Education Directorate.
