We are seeking an experienced Associate Professor to join our School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of New South Wales. As a leading researcher in algorithms and computer science, you will spearhead outstanding research on both national and international levels, while also delivering exceptional teaching to the next generation of computer science engineers.
About the RoleThe role of Associate Professor reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports. You will be responsible for conducting independent research and delivering excellent teaching, with a focus on algorithms. Your research expertise should align with our school's strengths in artificial intelligence, computer systems, secure and trustworthy systems, theoretical computer science, data science and information systems, and humans and machines.
Key Responsibilities- Conducting independent research in algorithms and computer science
- Delivering exceptional teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Developing and delivering courses and programs in computer science and engineering
- Mentoring and supervising students in their research projects
- Participating in departmental and school-wide activities, including curriculum development and review
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A PhD in a related discipline, or relevant work experience
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches
- Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence
- Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement
We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of AUD $179,630 to $197,312 per annum, plus 17% superannuation. We also offer opportunities for professional development, a supportive and collegial work environment, and a dedicated framework to deliver support services to assist your research, teaching, and career development.
