Risk and Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated risk management professional to contribute to effective risk and safety management systems in the Local Government Sector.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with Local Government organisations and provide high-quality service and advice to help them meet performance standards and effectively manage risks.

The position involves face-to-face service delivery to councils in the Southern Metro of South Australia, as well as travel to other areas within South Australia. Some flexibility is required to work outside regular hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with the WHS & Risk Team and Local Government organisations to achieve key deliverables.
  • Provide expert advice and risk management assistance to Local Government organisations regarding civil liability issues.
  • Assist in developing systems for managing specific risk management issues in Local Government organisations.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal staff, Local Government organisations, other government bodies, and private enterprises relevant to Local Government.
  • Raise awareness of risk management as a culture within Local Government.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of South Australian Work Health & Safety legislation, principles, and practices.
  • Expertise and experience in risk management, including ISO 31000 and Performance Standards for Self-Insurers (PSSI).
  • Knowledge of the SA Return to Work Act 2014 and relevant auditing qualifications or experience.
  • A current SA driver's licence.
