Financial Accountant

A Bookkeeper plays a vital role in maintaining the financial records and accounts of small to medium-sized businesses. They are responsible for recording and processing daily financial transactions, preparing tax returns, generating financial reports, and providing bookkeeping support and advice to clients.
The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and Xero software. They should be able to multitask, prioritise, and work to deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Recording and processing daily financial transactions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Preparing and submitting Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other tax returns
- Generating financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Providing bookkeeping support and advice to clients, helping them to better understand their financial position
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably within a small to medium-sized business or accounting practice
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and Xero software
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work to deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clients
