As part of The Y family, you will be responsible for the care and safety of our young community and impact their physical, mental, and social wellbeing for the better. In return, we will support you to build valuable people, leadership, and life skills all while working with people in need, from the comfort of our dynamic recreation facilities.

The Role

You will support our 'Streetgym' initiative that provides young people (12 to 18 years old) with an opportunity to engage in activities in their own neighbourhood as well as work on personal, social, and educational development aspects of their lives. You will also support the delivery of Alternative Suspension, a program to address educational disengagement and the underlying causes, establish ongoing support pathways and plan successful returns to school for students currently on, or at risk of, school suspension.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement engaging programs and activities.
  2. Provide individual and group support to young people, addressing their needs and concerns.
  3. Foster a safe and inclusive environment where all youth feel valued and respected.
  4. Collaborate with other professionals, such as schools, local council, and community organisations, to provide comprehensive support.
  5. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make necessary adjustments.
  6. Maintain accurate records and documentation of youth participation and progress.
  7. Advocate for the rights and needs of young people within the community.
