About AOD Support Work

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate professional to join our team as an AOD Support Worker. This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people who are voluntarily seeking withdrawal and/or respite from the acute use of alcohol and/or other drugs.

The Role

As an AOD Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing support to clients attending the service. This includes communicating and building supportive relationships with clients, providing counselling and other therapeutic interventions, assisting in the development of individual treatment plans, making referrals, and completing discharge summaries.

You will also be required to assist with meal preparation and ordering, general maintenance of the facility, undertake laundry duties, transport clients when required, and deliver medications as per program policy.

What We Offer

In addition to a competitive salary and superannuation, we offer 25% casual loading and access to the full $15,900 salary packaging benefits. You will also have the opportunity to purchase additional leave to increase your annual leave entitlements.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV in AOD or completion of the core competencies (or able to complete within the first 24-months of employment)
  • Competencies in dual diagnosis (or able to complete within the first 24-months of employment)
  • Experience in developing individual treatment plans, post withdrawal and discharge planning
  • Experience delivering group work
  • Experience working with people with AOD and/or Mental Health issues
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of screening, assessment and community-based treatment for all clients with AOD and mental health issues
  • Sound understanding of alcohol and other drug withdrawal
  • Thorough understanding of the harm minimisation framework
