Nursing Unit Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

The Nursing Unit Manager will provide leadership and direction to the Acute Medicine Service, ensuring operational efficiency and effective management of the ward.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled nurse to take on this key leadership position. The successful candidate will have strong clinical leadership, management, and patient-centred care coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide strategic direction for Clinical Acute Medical Services within the hospital, promoting an integrated service.
  2. Coordinate and perform the Acute Medical Ward to ensure service provision, patient assessment, care planning, care coordination, and continuing management in accordance with professional standards and legislative requirements.
  3. Drive the development, implementation, and evaluation of contemporary, evidence-based models of care, clinical practices, guidelines, and standards.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse authorised to practice by AHPRA.
  • Relevant postgraduate management qualifications or experience.
  • Nursing Unit Management or In-Charge experience in an acute/subacute facility and/or ambulatory setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage a team in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial and human resources.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
