WaterNSW is seeking a highly skilled Dam Safety Technical Lead to provide technical leadership in delivering effective dam engineering solutions.


The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and validating work outputs from Dam Engineers and consultants, as well as providing specialist expertise and advice on comprehensive dam safety risk reviews, investigations, and portfolio risk assessments.


Key responsibilities will include leading the development of strategies and objective studies for risk management options, supporting the prioritisation of dam safety investigations and studies projects for inclusion in the Dam Safety Investment Strategy, and developing effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.


To be successful in this role, you will need a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, along with a minimum 10 years of professional experience in dams engineering, experience in engineering and design aspects on multi-disciplinary dam projects, and extensive knowledge of principles and practices of dam and weir design, construction, operation, safety assessment and maintenance.


Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, will be essential in this role.

Key Requirements:



  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in dams engineering
  • Experience in engineering and design aspects on multi-disciplinary dam projects
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of dam and weir design, construction, operation, safety assessment and maintenance
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant Australian and International codes and standards
  • Knowledge of safety policies and regulatory requirements
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence, and willingness to travel to various sites within WaterNSW
