We are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will have strong technical accounting skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
About the Role:
The Insurance Accountant will be responsible for managing the Coles Group Self-Insurance Program, including understanding and meeting key compliance requirements, effective vendor management, banking, cancellation and reconciliation in relation to cheques returned or received from vendors, and supporting the Senior Insurance Accountant in relation to reporting, journals, payment, reconciliation and analysis.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Finance or related discipline
- Technical accounting experience, ideally in an insurance environment but not essential
- High level of excel skills
- Intermediate knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and statutory accounting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks
- Well-developed awareness of risk factors impacting the above work and how to mitigate them
