Veterinary Nurse Assistant Role

Our veterinary practice is seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Nurse Assistant to join our dedicated team.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • We are looking for someone who can assist veterinarians and veterinary nurses during consultations, treatments, and surgical procedures with ease and compassion.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the clinic is essential, including preparing and maintaining surgical instruments, equipment, and exam rooms.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting cages, kennels, and other areas of the clinic must be done on a daily basis.
  • Feeding, walking, and providing daily care for in-patient animals is crucial.
  • Administration of medications and treatments must be done as directed by the veterinary team.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records is vital.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary to communicate warmly and professionally with pet owners both in person and on the phone, answering their questions and offering support where needed.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • No prior veterinary experience is required; however, experience working with animals is a plus.
  • Holding a certificate II/III in Animal Studies or currently studying Cert IV Veterinary Nursing is highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • You must be physically fit and able to lift and handle animals of various sizes.
