Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Design Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical design of computer/network equipment designed to operate in data centers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement mechanical solutions that balance structure, cooling, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), safety, manufacturability, cost, appearance, tolerances, and documentation.
  • Utilize Creo 3D CAD software to create detailed drawings and 3D models.
  • Schedule and manage peer and cross-functional team reviews of designs.
  • Develop and maintain product bill of materials (BOM) and release changes using Agile tools.
  • Provide 3D models for thermal simulations and collaborate with electronic circuit design (ECAD) teams on printed circuit board (PCB) design.
  • Work with suppliers to address design for manufacturability (DFM) concerns and troubleshoot issues in the lab.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering + 7 years' experience.
  • Relevant experience in mechanical design of computer/network equipment designed to operate in data centers is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with ProEngineer (PTC Creo) and Mechanica (PTC Creo Simulate).
  • Thermal simulation and air flow testing skills.
  • Liquid cooling systems design experience.
  • Sheet metal part design using soft and hard tooling guidelines.
  • Plastic part design for cosmetic and non-cosmetic uses.
  • Familiarity with Product Data Management Link (PDMLink, PTC Windchill).
Australian Requirements:
  • Australian work rights require candidates with Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a demonstrable legal entitlement to work in Australia.
