About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Atmospheric Data Analyst to join our Social & Community Impact team at RAC WA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing credible and technically sound analysis using data derived from the award-winning RAC Air Health Monitor.

The monitor includes data from a network of more than 200 air quality sensors which tracks air pollution across Perth and Peel, playing a crucial role in supporting RAC's 2030 Vision, which includes reducing harmful vehicle emissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate collection, storage, and retrieval of air quality data and establish data validation procedures across multiple platforms.
  • Lead the analysis and synthesis of air quality data to identify trends, patterns, and areas of concern.
  • Provide accurate, detailed, and evidence-based outputs including an annual report.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in environmental standards and guidelines to ensure the air quality monitoring network complies.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Lead to investigate air quality events and threshold exceedances.
  • Support operations personnel in maintaining sensor health and network continuity.
  • Offer expert technical advice and professional judgment to support content production and media.
  • Enhance RAC's credibility in this field while informing RAC members, the community, industry, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and prepare reports, papers, and communication materials such as presentations and briefing notes.
  • Liaise and develop relationships with stakeholders in government and industry, representing RAC in external forums.
  • Manage consultants and contractors as required.
Requirements
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in a related discipline (e.g., Environmental Science, Engineering, Atmospheric Science).
  • Professional experience leading in-depth air quality data analysis and preparing reports.
  • Strong knowledge of air quality regulations and standards.
  • Experience with air quality monitoring equipment and data management systems.
  • A high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with attention to content, grammar, and language use.
  • Exceptional technical, conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting software and tools (e.g., MS Excel, PowerBI).
  • Sound professional judgment and a desire to demonstrate technical leadership.
  • Ability to apply a proactive approach to duties.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and manage projects within specified budgets and timeframes.
  • Capacity to operate effectively in a values-based organization and model desired behaviors.
