As a Community Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples who are facing mental health challenges. Your expertise will be invaluable in empowering them to achieve their recovery goals and develop life skills.
Responsibilities
• Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences
• Support young people to return to a community of their choosing, live independently and enjoy a positive future through a staged approach to recovery
• Plan and deliver group programs that help young people to develop life skills and focus on recovery
• Support clients in building or re-establishing connections with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and services
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Youth Work, Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
- Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate and perform these duties as required as part of the role.
- Proven ability to build meaningful connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, supporting cultural reconnection and engagement with kinship groups, elders, and Country.
