Specialist Anaesthetist Opportunities

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Specialist Anaesthetist to provide specialist medical services in general adult, paediatric and obstetric anaesthesia. This is a part-time fixed-term role at 0.5 FTE starting August 25th, 2025, until January 25th, 2026.

About the Role

As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will work as a Specialist to provide expert medical services to patients within the specialty. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing specialist medical services to patients in general adult, paediatric and obstetric anaesthesia
  • Being actively involved in perioperative patient optimisation and post-operative follow-up care
  • Accepting appropriate referrals both internal and external to the hospital, in accordance with the hospital's role delineation
  • Participating in the preadmission clinic, its structure, resources, and education of medical and nursing staff involved
  • Contributing to the acute pain service
  • Participating in a departmental after-hours on-call roster, including weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
  • Providing consultant proximal after-hours cover as required on the departmental roster
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Fellowship with the Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists
  • Substantial clinical experience in the management of high acuity patients in a complex hospital environment, including Paediatric and Obstetric Anaesthesia
