Portfolio Strategist

We are seeking a highly skilled Portfolio Strategist to join our Speciality Portfolio team in Consumer Insurance. As part of this high-performing team, you will contribute to the portfolio's performance by monitoring trends, recommending initiatives, and supporting the implementation of initiatives that drive profitable growth for the Shannons, as well as all Motorcycle, Caravan, Motorhome, and Boat portfolios for the Group.
Key Responsibilities- Portfolio Performance Analysis: Analyze the portfolio performance across all channels to identify opportunities to increase portfolio profit and loss performance.
- Business Planning and Reporting: Contribute to Portfolio budgeting, forecasting, and reporting through understanding the key levers driving the underlying performance.
- Product and Pricing Evaluation: Evaluate the performance of product/pricing initiatives to determine impact and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Segmentation and Trend Analysis: Conduct regular investigation of the portfolio data to highlight segmentation trends and develop appropriate solutions.
- Ad Hoc Analysis and Support: Complete ad hoc analysis and provide analytical support to numerous other teams across the business when required.
- Competitor Pricing and Market Trends: Complete analysis and monitoring of competitor pricing activity, quote tracker tool, and industry trends to identify trends and opportunities in the market.
- Compliance and Due Diligence: Conduct appropriate due diligence to ensure compliance on all materials and raise any potential breaches appropriately.
- Advanced Reporting and Data Interpretation Skills: Advanced reporting/data interpretation skills - specifically trend and variance of product/brand performance.
- Data Manipulation and Statistical Techniques: Strong data manipulation, statistical techniques, mining/analysis skills.
- Business Acumen and Commercial Awareness: Demonstrable knowledge of key business drivers for budgeting and forecasting, combined with strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
- Programming Experience: Programming experience (Excel, SAS) will be highly regarded.
- Time Management and Attention to Detail: Strong time management skills coupled with excellent attention to detail.
- Communication and Collaboration: Robust communication skills (Written/Verbal) coupled with the ability to build positive and constructive working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Relevant Qualifications and Experience: Relevant tertiary qualifications (Actuarial, Business, Mathematics, or Statistics) – preferred but not essential. Insurance-related work experience, preferably in retail/direct brands - preferred but not essential.
